Overall gaming spending fell by 2% (hardware is less than 6%, software down 2%, accessories up to 10%) in August in the US, according to NPD Group. The best-selling game was Madden NFL 18, and was the top of the rankings on both PS4 and Xbox One. Uncharted: Lost Legacy has witnessed major sales while GTA V continues to withstand significantly.
The best-selling game of the year, at the moment, is still Ghost Recon: Wildlands, in front of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Grand Theft Auto V and For Honor.
Nintendo Switch is the best-selling console, placing itself in front of PS4 last month, but the two platforms were headed all year long with the PS4 victory in May and June.
One interesting thing to note is that shooters sales fell by 30% compared to last year, but it is also said that 2016 was a great year for shooters, and titles like Star Wars: Battlefront II, Call of Duty: WWI, while Destiny 2 just came out last week, so it’s still early to launch into final results.
Speaking of negative things, however, Agents of Mayhem sales were pretty disappointing for Deep Silver. Below you can take a look at August’s August software sales in the States:
